Interactive Web Trend Map

I recently bought the poster for the Web Trend Map and seeing this video about the interactive version makes me a little bit excited.

Barack Obama is the World’s Latest Superhero

Apparently this was shown at one of the President’s addresses. Good on him for having a sense of humour. Definitely a change from the last president!

Augmented Reality

Apparently this is the world’s first augmented reality browser. I can’t wait to try this out, it looks like a pretty nifty piece of technology. I was fantasising about AR on phones the other day and how they could be great for virtual treasure hunts and such. Everyone knows AR isn’t for serious things!

What’s In The Box?

No one can say for sure whether this is a viral video for a Half-Life movie, but one things for certain, it’s damn cool! The special effects and camera work are really good, I felt immersed in the film.

Apple’s Hyperwall Thingy-ma-jig

This installation at the 2009 Apple WWDC event is pretty damn cool. It shows a live (5 min delayed) visualisation of all the downloads on 20,000 of the most popular apps. It utilises a huge array of Mac Pro machines that are running the yet unreleased version of OS X Snow Leopard. It’s quite mesmerising to watch!

Baker Tweet

BakerTweet is a way for busy bakers to tell the world that something hot and fresh has just come out of the oven. It’s as simple as turning the dial and hitting the button. All of the baker’s followers get a Twitter alert to tell them that it’s bun-time. Or bread time. Or whatever.

Apple’s New MacBook Wheel

I’m so getting myself one of these!

I’ve decided I’m addicted to data visualisation techniques. This one tracks messages on Twitter that say, ‘Just landed in’, and then plot the travel of each person on a map. Take a look at the video and also check out the website on the technique.

You definitely don’t see Microsoft releasing any cool promotional videos for Internet Explorer. This is why I like Google.

I never thought I’d understand the recession but this infographic-style video has changed all that. It’s pretty and interesting!
